Achievements 2008-2009

2008 Hispanic American Read-In Chain
In September, GEDS celebrated National Hispanic Heritage month by reading books by Hispanic American authors. The school took part in the 2008 Hispanic American Read-In Chain sponsored by the International REading Association and received a certificate of participation. As a school, GEDS read and enjoyed many books by Hispanic American authors in a variety of ways. We explored Hispanic culture and traditions through such books. Congratulations to everyone that read!

Grace Middle School Students Excel At International Affairs Conference
On Saturday, October 25th, sixteen 6th and 7th graders from Grace participated in the 13th annual Greater Washington Conference On International Affairs held at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. There were over 200 students from the east coast, including from Philadelphia and Arkansas, who participated in this conference. These students were engaged in serious debates on topics such as: child soldiers, nuclear-free zones in the Middle East and illegal immigration in the European Union.

At the end of the day, 12 members of the school delegation were recognized and honored for their outstanding achievements, and 2 students were named "the most outstanding" delegation within their committee. Overall, 75% of the Grace debate team was honored at the closing ceremony to this conference. It was a great day for Grace Episcopal Day School!

National Cathedral Performance
On October 15, 2008, the Grace Episcopal Day School sixth and seventh graders performed at the National Cathedral for Episcopal Schools Day. The middle schoolers were under the direction of Mr. John Kennedy.

One Vision - Many Voices

The traveling art exhibit was featured at the Baltimore - Washington Airport, the Walters Art Gallery, and the Maryland State Department of Education.
