Library program at Grace seeks to develop lifelong learners by providing resources for curriculum support and leisure reading.
Students meet weekly with the librarian for age appropriate activities. Younger students listen to stories read by the librarian and begin to learn about specific authors and illustrators. All students are able to check out a book of their choosing each week.
Throughout their years at Grace, students expand their knowledge of authors and literary genre. They learn how to use the automated catalog and how to use CD-ROMs effectively for research. Fifth and sixth graders work on refining their report writing skills and often move into the realm of young adult literature.
The librarian works closely with teachers at all grade levels to reinforce concepts, provide materials, and consult about classroom reading, book reports, and appropriate literature.
At the Kensington Campus, the library is equipped with computers linked to the Internet for online research and reference.
