Science is integrated into the daily activities nursery through second grade students as they explore, observe, predict, question and investigate. The curriculum is a hands-on program which guides students in applying the scientific method for problem solving.
Beginning in third grade, students are taught laboratory skills which include forming a question, creating a hypothesis, observing, testing and reaching a conclusion. Fourth graders learn to write laboratory reports, fifth graders are introduced to microscopes and microbiology, and by the sixth grade are expected to research information that will back up their conclusions and to present their findings in well-reasoned reports.

The emphasis on hands-on involvement from the early grades continues through the upper grades to include special projects and activities. Third graders take part in the Pyramid Cafe, preparing and serving balanced, nutritious dishes to their classmates based on what they've learned in the classroom. Fourth graders participate in the Invention Convention featuring student inventions of all kinds. The annual Science Fair includes projects created by all students in fifth and sixth grades with optional participation by fourth graders.
The science curriculum at Grace includes topics from the life, earth, and physical sciences. Technology and age-appropriate health education and family life are also integrated throughout the curriculum.
