Diversity AT GRACE
Grace Episcopal Day School is one of the most inclusive and diverse independent schools in the Washington metropolitan area. Approximately half of Grace students are non-Caucasian or foreign nationals, and approximately two-thirds of Grace families report religious affiliations other than Episcopalian.
In the spring of 2007, the Grace Episcopal Day School Board of Governors adopted a Diversity Mission Statement for the school. The statement resulted from a year-long process that engaged parents, faculty members, and administrators. In many ways reflective of our School Philosophy, Grace’s Diversity Mission Statement serves as a “touchstone” for all in our community.
Diversity Mission Statement
Grace Episcopal Day School is a community of students, teachers, parents and administrators that cares about and respects all people within and outside the walls of the school. We seek to model and teach love for all humanity, and we value the contributions and perspectives of each individual. Our community welcomes all who share these values regardless of differences such as race, ethnicity, religion, gender, family composition, sexual orientation, disability, and socio-economic status. Grace Episcopal Day School is committed to preparing students to live, work, and thrive in a diverse America and a global society.
Sherryl Talton-Gerald Forum
Throughout the year we celebrate the diversity of our school community through many events and activities, including a special forum and reception named in memory of former parent Sherryl Talton-Gerald. Parent volunteers help plan many of these activities.
